Ida Fern Charles, 89 of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully on April 25th 2020. She was born in Winnetoon, Nebraska August 29th 1930. She graduated from Wayne State Teachers College, Northern Colorado University and The University of Wyoming with certificates from Scottsdale Community College and Arizona State University. Ida was an adult and high school/middle school teacher for a number of years. She later taught preschool children. She also worked as a public relations staff member for centers of domestic violence. Ida lived a life inspired by faith and was an active member of Third Order Franciscan, Our Lady of The Rosary Fraternity. Her volunteer work included Casa Franciscana Outreach, Habitat for Humanity and Andre House. She was active in the American Association of University Women, Alpha Delta Kappa and Phoenix Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Ida is most proud of her three children John Charles, Kathleen Charles, Michael Charles (spouse Tracey) and two granddaughters Hailey and Sara Charles. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ottie and Hannah Halverson, Sister Mary Ebel and husband Roy Charles.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 6th 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery 401 North Hayden Road Scottsdale, AZ 85257. Burial service limited to family Thursday, May 7th 9:00am Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Andre House.
