Gwendolyn “Gwen” Wynell Herndon was born June 16th, 1924 in Hamlin, Texas. She moved to Phoenix with her family when she was a baby. She married Brick Herndon at 16 and they lived in the same Arcadia home in Phoenix their entire adult lives, raising three sons, whom she adored; Rick Ron and Ray. Gwen loved her family, her roses, cooking and her work with enduring passion.
On February 2nd, 2017 at 12:30pm, from the cause of Dementia, our beautiful “Lavender Rose”, ascended to the most glorious homecoming, uniting with her Heavenly Father, and reuniting with her beloved husband “Brick”, mother and father, 7 brothers and a sister.
She was an incredible Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, sister and friend. For 42 years she owned and operated one of the BEST little places on the planet, the iconic Scottsdale landmark, Handlebar J, and her legacy shall continue.
She is survived by her three sons; Rick, Ron and Ray: Grandchildren, Kevin, Brian, Loni, Aaron and Shay: Great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine, Patrick, Eli, Mason and Action.

Services to be held at Scottsdale Bible Church on Sunday March 5th, 2017 at 2pm. Celebration to follow services at Gwen’s Handlebar J Restaurant.
