Trudy was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, known for her warmth and kindness and devotion to God. Throughout her adult life she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a genealogist she traced her own family roots back to the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock. Her ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, both World Wars and helped free the slaves as part of the Underground Railroad. Thus, she loved this country and its ideals.
Raised on a farm in rural Pennsylvania, she became a medical lab technician and later accountant, earning her accounting degree at Arizona State University. She married Dr. Richard N. Boas, a pediatrician who would later become a pediatric radiologist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix. Together they raised five children who survive them, Barbara, Karen, Philip, Elise and Kerri. Trudy is also survived by her sister, Margaret Barber, her 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8, beginning with visitation from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Madison Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1835 E. Missouri Ave., Phoenix. Her funeral will follow at the church from noon to 1 p.m., with burial at 3 p.m. at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Road in Scottsdale. Memorial donations may be made to William T. Machan Elementary School in Phoenix.
