Esther Bresler was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Esther will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Esther was born on January 31, 1921 at home in BenDavis MO. She was the daughter of Lawrence G and Lydia M (McCall) Tate. Esther grew up in BenDavis MO.
Esther was raised with nine. She had four brothers, Allan, Noah,Amos and James. She also had five sisters, Mabel, Mary, Leah. Lorene and Alta. Esther was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Esther enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. While growing up, some of her best friends were Mr and Mrs. Roy Penbrook. Later in life, she became friends with Edna Woods, The McClenhan's (Junior, Phoebe, James and Genola), Florence Miller, The Cadena's (Benny and Carmen), Florence Davis and many others.
Empathic and loyal, Esther was committed to making her new family happy.
Esther worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Esther was blessed with two children, two daughters, Alberta and Sharon (Bobbi). Another blessing for Esther was the gift of five grandchildren, Dena, Mark, Geri, Scott and Jeff.
Fortunately, Esther enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Esther worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was self employed. She was employed for 20 years as a farmer in the Freely Give area and 30 years as Apartment owner/Landlord in Phoenix. Esther always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Esther enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were gardening, cooking/canning, needlework, quilting and camping/fishing. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Esther found pleasure in sports. Esther was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite events whenever she had the chance to do so. Tops on her list were Baseball (but only the AZ Diamondbacks), boxing, wrestling and roller derby.
Throughout her life, Esther was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. In high school, Esther was a member of the Home Maker Clubs. Throughout her later years, Esther was an active member of the Freely Give School Board.
Esther was a woman who took pride in upholding her beliefs. So it is little wonder that she took an active role in her community, serving on committees for. Politically, Esther was on the Freely Give School Board for 10 years.
Esther’s faith was important to her. She was a member Rock Springs in the Freely Give area for 18 years and East University Church of God in Mesa AZ for 17 years. During that time, she was involved in the Quartet, singing and playing the piano at Rock Springs.
Esther enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included traveling to Oregon, Missouri, California and Florida.
Esther was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was Charlie, a green Parakeet and Judy, a Pomeranian. They were best friends for Original Charlie, 6 years. Many Parakeets over 35 years, all named Charlie or Billy.
When Esther’s retirement finally arrived in 1983, she was well prepared. Her new life involved relocating to Mesa, Arizona. In retirement, she found new pleasure in Gardening, traveling and fishing. Even in retirement, Esther continued to stay in touch with her old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Esther was active in her new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered her.
Esther passed away on July 26, 2011 at Mesa, Arizona. Natural causes. She is survived by daughter, Alberta; grandchildren, Dena, Mark, Geri, Scott and Jeff; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services were held at East University Church of God in Mesa, AZ. Esther was laid to rest in Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale, AZ.
Simply stated, Esther was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Esther leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Esther Bresler.
