Dorothy "Betty" Elizabeth Woods

Betty Orris Woods was born on May 20, 1927 in Creighton PA. Daughter of Harry & Dorothy (Buckles) Orris. She passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023 at Fountain View Village in Fountain Hills, AZ.

In 1949 Betty graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville PA with a BS in chemistry. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She met her husband John Woods on a blind date, and they were married on August 26, 1950. She worked at Hall Laboratories in Pittsburgh PA; Educational Service District #189 in Everett WA and GTE Directories in Everett WA. In 1956, John and Betty relocated to Everett WA where they raised their family and lived for 63 years. In 2020 Betty relocated to Fountain Hills AZ to be closer to two of her daughters.

Betty was very well grounded in her faith. She was past President of both Faith Lutheran Church in Everett WA and Harbour Pointe Lutheran Church in Mukilteo WA. She was minister of the altar and gave communion to those who were homebound. Since Betty had a love of being around children, she was a Camp Fire leader for 10 years.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years John Woods, parents Harry & Dorothy (Buckles)Orris, brothers Richard & Harry Orris, sister Audrey Shaffer, and daughter Karen Woods.

Betty loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren had a very special place in her heart. She loved interacting with them. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Leslie, Bruce, Carol(Kris) and Kathi(Quinn); grandchildren Joshua(Jeni), Dana(Erin), Joy and Tian, and great grandchildren Hailey, Timothy, Tristan, Rachel, Abigail, Luke and Olivia. She is also survived by her siblings Barbara, Kirk(Patricia) and Neil.

The family requests that memorials be made to The Alzheimer Foundation. Services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church 6708 Cady Road Everett WA 98203 at 11:00AM. Her burial will be held at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Everett WA.
