Debra Katherine Zimmerman

After a hard fought battle with breast cancer, at the age of 61, Debra Katherine Zimmerman surrendered peacefully on the evening of Monday, July 18, 2016, in Phoenix, AZ surrounded by her family. Debbie was born on February 12, 1955 in Chandler, AZ, the oldest of five children. Although her adventurous spirit led her to live in many different places, she came home to be near family in 2003 after the death of her beloved husband, Jack. Debbie was a courageous breast cancer patient who spread inspiration, spirituality and hope to other cancer patients with her constant smile and good humored attitude. She never came into a room without bringing a loving hug for every person there. Family and friends will remember her gentle spirit and generous nature. Debbie is survived by her four sons, Douglas Rey Jones (Tabatha), Christopher George Sanchez (Heather), Mark David Sanchez and Carlos Ruben Sanchez (Kayla); three stepsons, Troy Zimmerman, Shane Zimmerman and Jason Zimmerman; her mother, Theresa Contreras, sisters, Frances A. Brown (Alton), Monica Rae Contreras-Garay (Ron), Gina M. Harkins (David) and Lawrence R. Contreras (Bianca); grandchildren, a great grandchild, nieces and nephews. A memorial service has been planned for Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 North 59th Avenue, Glendale, Arizona, 85301.
