As a foreigner ASU student in 1994 I met a gentle man named Dan MacCoy. He help foreigner students.  I wonder if he was.

I Knew Dan a long time starting early days at ASU, Tempe 1987/88 when I first came from Nigeria as a graduate student in Physics. He along with Kathy Grammer, Elmer & Jean Hiebert made the campus a more friendly and welcoming place for me and many international students. Christians, Muslims, Hindus and all were alike touched by his Love. He gave of himself, he gave himself to God for us. Can't help shedding tears, but he is with the Lord now, in a place of joy unspeakable and full of glory. I pray that the Lord will prosper the work he left behind. The seeds he had sown tirelessly for many years that are now scattered abroad all over the world, Oh Lord, cause them to thrive. Raise many more Dan McCoys to impact student lives like he did. Oh, Lord, repay his life's work and sacrifice to the beloved Mother who raised him to be what he became, and to his siblings and many generations of the McCoys. He found his calling and invested his life in work that pays eternal dividends. May the Lord help us to find our own lives' true calling and to spend and be spent for the things that have eternal rewards.

Dan was in my 3rd gr., 7th gr., and high school Sunday school classes and youth BYF group.  He always shared God's Love with others and was a very caring person.  He was a blessing in our lives. Thank you to his family for sharing him.

Three years have passed and it is still hard for me to believe that you're no longer in our midst brother Dan! You were a true brother and such an encouragement in my walk with the Lord! May your soul rest in peace in Heaven!

I met Dan in August 1991. He was always visiting me and praying for me and with me. I left ASU in 1996 but I always kept in touch with him via e mail or phone...It was always nice to talk to him. I came back to do a Post doc at ASU and he helped me again to find a place and a family.  I am always going to remember Dan...Rest in peace my good Dan!!!! Carlos A. Tirado (Ctirado@mednet.ucla.edu)

It was 1996 when I first met Dan. I didn't have a place to stay when I arrived and he kindly let me stayed with him for a few days. He helped me with locating an apartment and subsequently helped me to move. Rest in peace Dan. You are a kind man that shared with me the love of the Lord. After almost 20 years, I still remember the act of kindness that you had shown me. Your willingness to share what you had.

I knew Dan for about 15 years. I was an ASU student back in 1997. When i first came from Mexico, I didnt know anyone. He let me stay in his house for a few days. He helped me buy my first car. He gave me some furniture for my appartment - some of which i still have. I even met my exgirlfriend through the ISC. I joined the ISC activities for about 5 years and then finally i graduated and we lost touch for about 8 years... One day i called him to check on him and he said he was doing good, but he had cancer. I started visiting him on a regular basis. we reconnected. i took him to the hospital. I spent a few hours with him on May 5th (his last day from what i read here). I did some painting in his house. He said he wanted to keep the house good looking for the next few years... I said I would try to help him taking care of his yard....Now I have been calling him for the past 3 days with no answer. Fearing the worst, i went to his house last night, where i saw a  few trash bags with something through the window of his living room. That was odd, since he always kept things in place. Today I learned that he had passed away and apparently i was one of the last persons (maybe the last one - not sure) to be with him... That day he said he was not feeling very well, but we were still joking about a lot of things...  I can't describe what i feel now.  

I have a lot of respect for him.

I wish to send my condolences to the family of  Dan, even though I knew him only a little.  I know his siblings, and knew his father.

Steve and the McCoy family.  Many years have passed, but thoughts and prayers go out with you and your family on Dan's passing. His life was one of giving. In death that will continue. Condolences to all of you.
