Charles Dye, 94, known to family as Chuck and to friends as Charlie and to Corvair lovers as “Mr. Corvair”, passed away October 14, 2021 in Mesa, AZ. Chuck was born on October 2, 1927 in Flint Township, MI to William George Burnham Dye and Shirley (Lawcock) Dye. His parents owned the Wm. GB Dye Groceries and Hardware on the northwest corner of Dye and Corunna Roads from 1931 to 1947.
Chuck joined the Navy at a young age and always talked about its benefits. He spent most of his adult life in Maryvale, AZ working for Reynolds Aluminum. When he retired, he started the Corvair Club with other enthusiasts. Eventually he moved to Apache Junction, AZ.
Chuck is survived by: daughter Ida Charlene Dye Kraft, son Paul Matthew Dye, nephew Michael Edwin Kelley in Commerce City, CO; niece Patrice Dugan in Peoria, AZ; and nephew Robert W. D. Kelley in Margate, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Food Bank. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Fountain Hills in Arizona. He will be laid to rest in the Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, AZ.
