Carolyn Ann (Reed) Arredondo, 80, entered the gates of heaven on December 29, 2018. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on December 21, 1938 to Irvin and Gertie Mae Reed, whom both preceded her in death. Carolyn was a school teacher and/or guidance counselor at Palmcroft Elementary (Yuma, AZ), Ritter Elementary, Arredondo Elementary, Rover Elementary, Kyrene Middle School and Akimel Middle School. Carolyn’s father, Irvin, was a Baptist minister and she loved to play the piano and organ in his churches. She was among the first graduating class at Camelback High School (1956) and was a sister of the Chi Omega Sorority at Arizona State University graduating with an Education Degree in 1960. Carolyn is also preceded in death by her husband Mike. S. Arredondo. Carolyn is survived by her younger sister Sandi (Ron) Phifer; sons Robert Smithers Jr. (Cathy) and David Smithers; step-sons Mike,Roy and Andy Arredondo; step-daughter Peggee (Joe) Marcano, niece Kim Phifer, nephew Ronald (Paige) Phifer; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held on Tuesday January 29, 2019 at 5:00 pm at Cross PoinTempe Church 1001 E. Southern Ave., Tempe, AZ 85282.
