Betty Ruth Knoche

Betty Ruth Cannon Knoche of Ahwatukee passed away after a long illness on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Born in 1932 in Seaford, Delaware, she was the daughter of Ernest E. and Ruth (Ridinger) Cannon, and sister of Ernest W., all of whom preceded her in death. Her family moved to Warren, Arizona when she was ten years old and later to Phoenix. She was a graduate of North High, and attended San Jose State College and Arizona State College. Betty and her husband August Wendell Knoche, who passed away in 2015, married in May of 1953 and were together for 61 years.

Betty was a homemaker, bookkeeper, and seamstress, and her hobbies included genealogy and miniatures. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, a Stephen Minister, and active in the Emmaus Community. At various times, she attended Central United Methodist in Phoenix, Scottsdale Methodist, Tempe First Methodist and Christ Chapel in Tempe. For the last several years Betty has been a member of Desert Foothills United Methodist Church in Ahwatukee.

Betty will be greatly missed by her seven children: William (Gail) of Colorado, David (Kathy deceased) of Pinetop, Robert (Cheryl) of Show Low, Wendy Anderson (Larry) of Ahwatukee, Jonathan (Teri) of Ahwatukee, Kathy Marcus (Daniel) of Tempe, and Beth Schultz (Richard) of Oregon; her 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four nieces, and three nephews, as well as her many friends.

Friends are welcome to visit at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, on Thursday evening November 30th 6:00-8:00 PM. Family Interment will be at Green Acres Cemetery December 1st, 10 AM.

All are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM on Sunday December 10th, at Desert Foothills United Methodist Church, 2156 E Liberty Ln, Phoenix, with Rev. Dr. Kristin D. Hansen presiding. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Desert Foothills United Methodist Church.
