Betty Price Emerson, age 85, passed away on June 27, 2017 at Brookdale Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Arizona. Betty was born on May 13, 1932 in Morgantown, West Virginia. Her parents were Archie and Anna Price (Mollard). She was the youngest and last surviving child of a family of eight children. Betty was schooled through the ninth grade and was a drum majorette at her school as well as playing the saxophone. Betty was raised with a very simple life but married into military life and enjoyed world traveling. She was able to tour Germany twice and Turkey. From there she was able to visit Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Austria, and Holland. She was a very caring, loving, and outgoing person and would give you the shirt off her back. She was a very strong woman and went after whatever she wanted in life. She had many social and career accomplishments, but she is best known for making the million dollar club in real estate three years in a row. One of her ‘cuter’ accomplishments was being an air traffic controller at a small airport. She knew nothing of that position and they were desperate in needing someone, so she was ‘on the job’ taught. A friend of ours described mom, after meeting her, as a ‘hoot’ … and I think that describes her quite well. Her careers were very varied, she loved change. She worked at Motorola, she was a bookkeeper (again was taught on the job), worked at Charles Schwabb and again, knew nothing of computers and several younger gentlemen worked along beside her and taught her how to use the computer on the job. She worked at Wal-Mart as both a cashier and a manager. She worked in real estate with Century 21. She and her niece, Freda Sims, operated A-AAA Key Mini storage for several years. She loved to bowl and she received several trophies for her own accomplishments as well as team awards. She was all in for her daughter, Diana, and proceeded to be a Brownie leader and Girl Scout leader while her daughter was involved in these activities. Her grandsons, Schayne & Travis were the love of her life. She was very involved in their lives – which in turn made her very involved in the lives of her great grandchildren. Predeceased Betty – She was predeceased by her husband Paul James Emerson, she had 7 siblings and her mom and dad – all have passed away – she was the last surviving member of that immediate family. She is survived by her daughter Diana Lynn Clarkson and her husband Dean, (Cavecreek, AZ) her grandchildren, Schayne Clarkson (Avondale, AZ) and Travis Clarkson, (Glendale, AZ) and her great grandchildren Maddox Clarkson, Mila Clarkson, Mirae Clarkson (all 3 from Avondale, AZ) and Chelsey Nicol (Las Vegas, Nevada) Betty was loved and cared for by many members of Brookdale Desert Ridge Assisted Living Home. Though she had a few who were very close to her – Laura and Ciarenna … Rianna Caddell was her favorite who really helped her to adjust to living there and supported and loved her as well as becoming a favorite of mine and the two of us drew very close to one another. She was quite the advocate for Betty.Memorial services for Betty Emerson will be held at SonRise Bible Church located at 29505 N. Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, Arizona on July 29th at 11 AM.
