Many knew him as Albert, some knew him as Al, and even some called him Gus but what this beloved man was known for above all else was his ability to light up a room. He was best known for being a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. On April 5th, 2024 at 4:14 pm this wonderful old soul took his last breath after a tough fight against pneumonia. He was 97 years old.
Born August 1st, 1926 to Merdle Knedman Redlinger, a homemaker and Albert Charles Redlinger, a glass factory worker in Washington township, PA. He grew up to leave high school early to fight with fellow Americans during World War II where he was shipped to Okinawa. He served 4 years and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. Following the service he attended trade school and pursued a career as an electrical engineering technician. He lived in Washington, PA with his wife June Winfield Redlinger and daughter Rana June and son Brian Albert until 1961 when the family relocated to Scottsdale, AZ. He worked for Salt river project upon arrival in Arizona until the time of his retirement in 1989. Albert became an avid runner and completed 3 marathons.
Albert is preceded in death by a son Barry Raymond Redlinger, his wife June Winfield Redlinger, his parents Merdle and Albert, his sister Dorothy May Redlinger McDowell, brother in law Wade McDowell and niece Donna McDowell.
Albert is survived by his daughter Rana June Redlinger Hilderbrand, son in law Allen Hilderbrand, grandson Travis Hilderbrand, granddaughter Andrea Hilderbrand, grandson Alex Hilderbrand, granddaughter in law Sarah Hilderbrand, great grandson Kailan Hilderbrand and great granddaughter June Hilderbrand along with son Brian Albert Redlinger, daughter in law Debra Holt Redlinger, grandson Wyatt Redlinger, grandson Ian Redlinger, granddaughter in law Madalyn Redlinger, and great granddaughter Genevieve Redlinger.
Knowing Albert he is making everyone around him smile in heaven, running laps or driving around with the windows down in an old Chevy truck. Possibly with a box of snickerdoodle cookies right next to him on the seat.
