Our Mother bravely fought cancer for the last 5 months, she passed away November 28, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family. She has gone to be with our baby sister and her family in heaven. Mom was born in Fort Collins, CO at Larimer County Hospital to Robert Reagles and Ann Oswald Reagles on January 18, 1946. When she was 2-1/2 she was adopted to Dorothy (Sanders) and Gilbert Swinscoe in August 1948.
Mom grew up as in the Ft Collins, CO area where her dad farmed. Later they moved to Wellington, CO and lived in a big beautiful yellow house until her early teens when her parents passed away. She was very close to her adopted father and spent time with him running tractors and hanging out with him. On Sundays her mother and her would host a church group and cook fried chicken, for which they were well known for.
Mom met Richard Kinsey in early 1965 and they married. From that marriage they had four daughters, Karen, Sandi, Gina and Charmaine. They divorced, and mom remarried Larry Afrank. Together they raised their daughters in Forsyth, MT and then later in Colstrip MT. Mom and Larry eventually divorced and Mom moved to the Scottsbluff, NE area. There she spent countless hours with her grandkids, family and friends cheering on the Rockies, the Broncos the Huskers and Nascar races. Moms career was spent as a cook at the West Regional Hospital and later at the local detention center where she enjoyed teaching detainees how to cook and prepare food. Mom was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed cooking for friends and family. In our family she is known for her fried chicken, German buttons, and cheese popcorn and countless other dishes. Mom was a wonderful organ player, our best memories are of her playing petty doot doot (roll out the barrel) on the organ while us kids danced around the living room with Larry. I can still see her big hands running across the keyboards and her feet playing the pedals and the smile on her face that made all of us smile and dance harder. Her willingness to spend individual time with us whether it was skipping school to watch General Hospital or letting one of us stay up late with her and cook steaks. So many good memories that won’t be forgotten.
For the last 5 months the good Lord graciously stopped us in our busy lives and granted us time to spend time with Mom, recalling childhood memories, cooking, visiting on the back porch, dancing, listening to music, eating at Sam & Louies, visiting her old home and making new memories.
Mom is survived by Karen (Kevin) Jorgensen, Sandi (Layne) Olson, Gina (Brian Schneider) Powell and her grandkids and great grand kids and special friends; Lyle Powell, Mark Wald, Rosanne Powell, Kady Crago and her cat Charlie.
Mom is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings she never met and her baby girl Charmaine (Russell) Flink.
We would like to make special mention of all the healthcare providers that have supported us during this time, Dr. Beehler, her nurse Candy, Billie Koon, and the wonderful hospice nurses; Rebecca and Ronna & Nicole. And also for our families, supervisors and coworkers that allowed us to spend so much time with mom during these last months.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Joe Peterson officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
