Muriel B. Parker, of Scottsbluff, NE went to be with her Heavenly Father at the age of 87 on May 22, 2022. Please join us in celebrating her life on Tuesday June 7, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the First Christian Church, Scottsbluff, NE, with Pastor George Kilmer and Cindy Bowker officiating. Following the service please join the family for a small reception in the foyer of the church.
Muriel was born on May 6, 1935 in Brighton, CO to Frank and Muriel (Steiner) Dickeman. She was later adopted by her step-father, George Halstead. Her family moved to Dutch Flats north of Mitchell, NE when she was a small child. She attended school at Plainview Country School and moved to Scottsbluff and attended Longfellow School and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1953. Muriel was employed at Ben Franklins and then married the love of her life, Jim D. Parker on September 20, 1953. To this union Jim and Muriel were blessed with, son, Dale “Scott”. Muriel was a stay at home Mom until Scott was in the fourth grade and then she returned to work for the L.B. Murphy Co. She worked there for 23 years as a buyer of Jewelry, Children’s clothing and head of the department.
Muriel enjoyed following all of Scott’s athletic events from an early age to college and loved every minute of it! She enjoyed being with family and attending any family events including cooking for big family dinners!
Muriel joined the First Christian Church in 1953 and served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, singing in the choir while serving on many different committees for many years. Muriel loved to love on people and if you came to her door at home she would be singing and cleaning, as she loved music!
Muriel and Jim traveled to New Mexico to see Scott & Dianne for many, many years being blessed with her first granddaughter, Brooke Shantelle then later on with her second granddaughter, Sasha Adae. They followed the girls in all their accomplishments and activities throughout their school years when given the opportunity. After Brooke was married to husband, Jerry, Muriel was soon blessed with 3 beautiful great grandchildren. Muriel was truly a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother.
Muriel is survived by her son, Scott & Dianne (Castinado) of Portales, NM; granddaughters Sasha Parker; Brooke and husband Jerry Cordova, great grandchildren, Nevan Parker, Ava Brielle and Olivia Grace Cordova all of Portales, NM, and numerous nieces and nephews, Shan & Joe Fuentes, son, Tucker; Shelly Bailey, son Caulin; Sheryl Spath, son Austin, all of Scottsbluff; sister-in-laws, Jean Blackburn of Scottsbluff, JoAnne and Scotty Cookston of Montesano, WA and brother-in-law, Darrell Parker of Scottsbluff. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
Muriel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, March 2022, her parents, two brothers, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and many aunts and uncles.

Her life was a living example of a special Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” She will be so missed by all those that loved and knew her but her memory will live on forever in our hearts!
