Longino “Gene” Rangel, Sr, 46, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Jonathan Sorensen officiating. Rosary/Vigil Service will be held at 7pm on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the church. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at Scottsbluff. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1 to 5 PM at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be given to the family. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com
Gene was born April 24, 1968 at Sterling, Colorado to Lawrence and Betty (Rider) Rangel. He graduated from Gering High School and attended Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, graduating with an Associate of Applied Science Degree. He was last employed by Magnolia Homes until ill health forced him to retire. He and his wife Sara just celebrated their 27th anniversary this past July.
Gene loved to make his family and friends laugh; he was a jokester. He was an avid WWE fan, past member of the YMCA, member of a Chess Club, liked to play pool, and enjoyed all types of music and working on the Camaro with his dad. He coached Longino Jr’s baseball team and played video games with Jarek.
He is survived by his wife Sara; sons Longino Rangel, Jr. and Jarek Rangel; mother and father Lawrence and Betty Rangel; sister Juanita Rodriguez and her husband Ben; mother-in-law Linda Furrey; sister-in-law Carol McConnell and her husband Joe; brother-in-law Mike Furrey; nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, brother Larry, and father-in-law John Furrey.
