

Nedra “Jean” Powell, 74, of Gering, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 7, 2018, at 1:30pm at Dugan Kramer Funeral Home with Mary Beth Mau officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial park. A memorial has been established to Heritage Estates in Gering or to Regional West Hospice.
Jean was born on December 2, 1943 at Scottsbluff, to Loren and Margie (Fleharty) Koch. She received her early education at Bayard Schools and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. Jean married Harold Powell on June 10, 1962 and together they made their home in Gering. From this union, 5 children were born: Amber, Glenette, Lorena, Schuyler, and Jason.
Jean loved to dance, play cards, tend to her flowers, and make people laugh. She dedicated her life to raising her children and helping others. She was an accomplished seamstress and could create anything with fabric.
She will be remembered as a compassionate, giving, and loving woman who always put others before herself. She will be greatly missed by all those lucky enough to have been her family or her friends.
Jean is survived by her children: Amber (Mike) Bell, Glenette Powell, Lorena Schlaepfer, Schuyler (Stacey) Powell, Jason (Jenny) Powell; grandchildren Ashley Bell, Aspen, Tegan, Kenzie, and Keaton Schlaepfer, Max, Alex, and Mason Powell, Samantha and Zach Phillips, and Davin Powell; great-grandchildren Amberly Stott, Harbor Powell, and Lily Powell; sister Mertha (Floyd) Cooper, brother Leroy Koch, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Adam.
