Funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, December 30th, at Cornerstone Church, 2122 Ave F., Scottsbluff, NE, with a graveside service at Fairview Cemetery to follow at 1:00pm.
She was born in Nuevo León, Mexico on May 6, 1943 to Ricardo and Antonia Reyna. Her father moved the family to Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas where she was raised on the family farm. Her family included 8 siblings. Our mother always remembered her youth with affection and gratitude.
At the age of 17, she was united to our father, Adam Salazar on March 11, 1961 in Valle Hermoso. When faced with the decision to move to the US, Guadalupe made the hard decision to leave her parents, siblings and her country for the promise of a better life for her family so they moved to Scottsbluff, Ne in March of 1968.
Arriving in Scottsbluff to 2 feet of snow, with 5 young children, hundreds of miles from all she knew, she learned to love her new life in her adopted country. She was a homemaker and avid gardener who enjoyed growing beautiful flower gardens to the end of her life.
Guadalupe had a gift of making everyone feel welcomed and loved and she was the best mom to her 6 children. In every aspect of her life-as a wife, a mother, grandmother and friend, she gave her all, wholeheartedly with love, compassion, laughter and fun.
She loved her husband dearly, she played joyously with her children and she was an ever-present, loving grandmother. She was one of the most loving persons you could ever meet.
Guadalupe’s faith was the most important aspect of her life. Her love for her Lord and Savior only magnified her own loving heart. She made the brave decision to accept Jesus Christ into her heart in the early 197Os in spite of any opposing arguments. When asked many years later what gave her the courage to make this decision, she answered, “The more I read and understood the Bible, I realized that I had worth and value in God’s eyes.” This very important decision change her family’s future for generations to come.
Guadalupe is survived by her children, Javier (Carolyn) Salazar of Kyle, TX; Olga (Jeff) Tabor of Humble, TX; Oscar Salazar of Scottsbluff, NE; Hilda (Brett) Warr of Ft Collins, CO; Carmen (Kurt) Jording of Scottsbluff, NE and Roberto Salazar of Omaha, NE; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 5 sisters.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Adam Salazar and her son-in-law, Kurt Jording.
