Our Lord, according to His good and gracious will, guided Carol A. Ziegler into His mercy, comfort, care, and to His Eternal home on August 30, 2024, at the age of 90. She passed away while residing at Heritage Estates Gering, Nebraska.
Carol was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, on November 13, 1933, to Manual and Millie (Fisher) Wolfe. She grew up and attended school in Scottsbluff. Carol married Marvin E. Ziegler on October 3, 1954, at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before the passing of Marvin on November 2, 2017.
Before marriage she worked as a Disaster Surgery nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital. After marriage she played a significant role in helping Marvin with his various business endeavors, including ZM Lumber. When the blessing of children came along, her devotion to the service, care, and raising of her family became her “great pleasure” in her own words.
Carol had an unwavering faith that she demonstrated to all around her. She always greeted you with a smile and a cheerful, friendly, and exuberant attitude that made you want to smile too. Carol always exhibited a kind, quiet and helpful spirit. Never complaining, strong in nature, integrity, and character. Looking after her home she enjoyed working with her flowers, and gardening. She also found pleasure in spoiling the local wildlife with treats.
Carol was able to share her last years at Heritage Estates with her lifelong friend Phyllis Chipman, who provided much encouragement to her until Carol’s passing.
Carol is preceded by her husband Marvin E. Ziegler and her son Martin E. Ziegler, her parents Millie and Manual Wolfe, sisters Fern Imus (Jack), Glenda Ockinga (Francis), and brothers Gordon Wolfe and Allen Wolfe.
Carol is survived by her daughter Renea C. Erickson (Ralph) of Foristell, Missouri, her son Matthew J. Ziegler (Jody) of Gering, Nebraska, sisters Keitha Ziegler (Virgil deceased) of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Valerie Hinman (Pat deceased) of York, Nebraska. Sister-in-law Patty Brown (Ted deceased). Granddaughters Chantell Long (Matt) of Turlock, California, Taylor Ziegler of Omaha, Nebraska. Grandsons David Erickson (Teal) of Defiance, Missouri, Jonathan Erickson of Wright City, Missouri, Sterling Ziegler (Bailey) of Paris, France. Great-grandchildren, Angela, Carter, Max, Olivia, and Skylar. Great-great-grandchildren Rhett, Torrence, and Weston.
