Betty Jean Kraus, 86, of Scottsbluff, peacefully passed away on September 30th, 2015 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5th at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff at 1:30 in the afternoon with Pastor Andy Griess officiating. Visitation will be held at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home in Scottsbluff on Sunday, October 4th from 1 to 5 in the afternoon. Burial will follow at Bayard Cemetery. Betty was born to George and Molly (Frank) Richard on March 18th, 1929. Betty grew up in the valley and attended Sunflower School, Lake Alice, and Minatare High School, where she was a cheerleader. On February 10th, 1946, she married Victor Goss. Betty and Vic raised their three sons on the farm. Vic and Betty loved bowling and playing cards together, and especially going to Dutch Hop dances. Victor passed on March 7th, 1973. Betty later married Harry Kraus of Bayard on June 14th, 1974. They loved traveling together, square dancing, and playing cards. They enjoyed hosting family get-togethers and watching their grandchildren grow and play sports. Harry passed away on July 16th, 2008. Betty was active in the Zion Evangelical Church of Scottsbluff and “The Betty Club.” She also worked as a receptionist at the Carpenter’s Center and was a Volunteer Grandmother at Scottsbluff area elementary schools. She also loved meeting up for coffee with her friends. She resided at Golden Living Center at the time of her death. Her final resting place will be in the Bayard Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons: Jim Goss of Scottsbluff and formerly of Bayard, Richard (Laura) Goss of Scottsbluff, and Steve Goss of Torrington, Wyoming; three brothers: Harvey (Bonnie) Richard of Gering, Gary Richard of Commerce City, Colorado, and Frank Richard of Scottsbluff; one sister: Joyce Fulk of Scottsbluff; grandchildren: Kim (Greg) Foutz of Commerce City, Colorado, and Derrick Goss of Scottsbluff; and one great-granddaughter: Madi Jo Foutz of Commerce City, Colorado. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Richard of Scottsbluff, and Louise Kniss of Scottsbluff; one daughter-in-law: Jo Goss of Bayard; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Victor Goss and Harry Kraus, brother Harold Richard, sister and brother-in-law Elnora and Don Bauer, sister-in-law Helen Richard, and brother-in-law Harry Fulk.
