William M. Shields

William M. Shields of Marshfield passed away on September 14, 2024, at the age of 69, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Debra Russell Shields, loving father to William M. Shields Jr. (Courtney), Brian R. Shields (Cristin), Stephen P. Shields (Amanda), and Gregory T. Shields, adoring Papa to Brooklyn, Caleigh, Molly, Nora, Kevin, Theo, and Oliver.

Bill was born in Boston and raised in the Lower Mills section of Dorchester to the late Thomas D. Shields Sr. and Patricia Quinlan Shields. He is survived by his siblings Patricia Dembowski, Thomas Shields Jr., Brenda Gauthier, Susan Loomer, and Janice Paschal. Bill was a brother-in-law to Donna Walsh, Paul Russell, Barbara McGloin, Fred Russell, and Janet Collins. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bill attended Boston Latin graduating in 1974. He was a member of the BLS Hockey Team. Upon graduation, he joined IBEW Local 103 as a Union Electrician. In 1978, Bill and Debbie married and moved to Marshfield where they raised their family. He enjoyed all sports, especially hockey. He loved golf and fishing with family and friends. He also loved travelling. Bill and Deb spent many winters in Florida. Bill was a member of the Thursday Night Golf League at Green Harbor Golf Course for many years.

Visiting hours in the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, (Off Route 3A) Scituate, MA on Friday September 20, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral Mass at St Christines 1295 Main St. Marshfield Ma. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11 AM.. Please go directly to church. Interment at Couch Cemetery.
