Will was born on January 3, 1974, in Boston and died unexpectedly from a medical event at his home in Scituate, MA on June 6, 2024. He was the son of Carol and Robby Robinson of Marshfield and leaves his wife Erika and children Willy, 17, and Myah, 13, and his sister Elizabeth and her husband Ray Forbes and their two children Henry and Anna of Scituate. He graduated from Marshfield High School in 1992, attended RIT, graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a major in Mechanical Engineering, and earned his master's degree in Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School.
Will lived in Washington, DC for 10 years with Erika, Willy, and daughter Ella, who died at the age of 8 months old. He worked for M. Rosenblatt and Sons, Naval Architects, and then worked until his death for NAVSEA, at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carterock, MD as the Technical Lead in research and development for the Operational Logistics Integration Program.
Will was a devoted lacrosse enthusiast. Because there was no lacrosse program at Marshfield High School when he returned from a year playing lacrosse at Tabor Academy, he started the Marshfield traveling lacrosse club with his father and friends which then became the Marshfield High School lacrosse program. A few years later, after spending time traveling with his sister Elizabeth throughout Asia, he returned home to become the head JV Marshfield Lacrosse coach. After marrying Erika and moving to Scituate he began coaching both Willy’s and Myah’s youth lacrosse teams. He also helped coach their youth ice hockey teams and Willy’s youth football team. He was the equipment manager for the youth lacrosse program, a member of the Scituate Youth Lacrosse Board, an assistant Scituate JV lacrosse coach, a faceoff coach for the Scituate varsity team, and a skilled faceoff man himself on the Shuckers men’s lacrosse team.
Will grew up on the water and owned his first Boston Whaler at age 13. He sailed in several Newport-Bermuda Races, and with Erika took his family’s 36’ sailboat on a 6-month adventure from Washington, DC to the Exumas in the Bahamas. He was a passionate fisherman and loved fishing late at night in Scituate waters in his 18’ skiff and with family and friends in his Stamas 37 everywhere from Provincetown to Martha’s Vineyard.
Will also loved snow skiing, scuba diving, woodworking, and gourmet cooking. He could trouble shoot and fix or build just about anything. Will was the person anyone would choose to be shipwrecked with; he was the first person most people would call for help; he was so much to so many people. He was devoted to his family and a strong believer in the importance of extended family connections and traditions. His friends were extremely important to him, but no one got more of his love and care than Willy and Myah.
Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend a visitation at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., Scituate MA, from 3-7pm on June 18 and a candlelight vigil at the Scituate High School lacrosse field on June 19 at 8:30pm. A memorial service for family and close friends is planned for later in August.
