He is predeceased by his six brothers: Bernie, Ed, Frank, Joe, John, Walter and Raymond.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Tom earned his BA from Manhattan College and went on to earn his Master’s in Library Science from Simmons College. He began his career teaching in New York and then moved to Alaska, where he would become a supervisor of teachers going up and down the Lower Yukon River.
Following his time in Alaska, he moved to Pine Ridge South Dakota, where he lived on the Oglala Lakota Sioux Indian Reservation. He continued his teaching at Red Cloud Indian School. He went on to set up the first library for the Oglala School of Nursing, the first nursing school in Pine Ridg, South Dakota. Here, he met Paula who was also teaching on this reservation.
The couple soon moved to Boston and then to their “forever home” in Scituate, Massachusetts. He worked at Labouré College School of Nursing and later at Braintree Public Library, where he retired in 2006.
After retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed his passions of gardening, world travelling, hitting the casinos and holding the best neighborhood yard sales. He was devoted to selflessly helping his family, friends and neighbors until his absolute last breath.
