Theresa Martin - Age 70, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully December 29, 2017 after a courageous second battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. Terry was the loving wife of 43 years to Robert Martin. Born in Lake Charles, LA, she the daughter to the late Joseph and Helen Milsted. Cherished mother of Suzanne Normand, her husband Dan, Maryellen Rowell, her husband Mark, Julie Howell and Phillip Martin. Beloved grandmother to Jonah, Drew, Gavin, Aden, Olivia, Kyle and Connor. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Sherly Eddy, nephew Brian Eddy, aunt and uncle Edward and Betty Milsted, cousins Donna Whatley and Russell Benduzek and aunt Jane Benduzek.
Terry fully recovered from the first glioblastoma brain cancer nine years ago and became an inspiration to others battling the same disease. As a nurse and cancer survivor, she provided advice and comfort to others newly diagnosed. She also belonged to a quilting group called "Quilts for Kids" that made quilts for children with cancer in nearby hospitals. She never let the cancer slow her down or stop her from doing the things that she loved to do. She was a devout Catholic and passed her gift of faith onto her four children.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, going on trips with them and never missing a school or special event. In her free time she enjoyed working on many projects such as making beautiful quilts, sewing and crocheting. She also loved reading, watching movies, and shopping.
Terry graduated from high school at the Jeremiah Burke High School, and she then became a registered nurse after graduating from Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. She worked in the labor and delivery at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Dorchester for many years. She was a pediatric nurse for 20 years at Dr. Cilento's office in Scituate. Terry also worked selling real estate for Coldwell Banker, and had many friends in the real estate business.
A visitation will be held Tuesday January 2, 2017 from 4-8pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday January 3, 2017 at 10am from St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate.
