A former, longtime resident of Milton and now of Scituate, MA, Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Emily Jones, and her sister, Lucinda Jones. Sue was a beloved wife of 56 years to Bill and an endlessly caring mother of Wendy Murray, Kasie Pasquantonio and her husband, Jim, Rebecca Lauring and her husband, Matthew, and Jaimie Markey and her husband, Christopher. Sue was a cherished and proud grandmother, “Goggie” of Cooper, Cullen, Holly and Lilly Pasquantonio, James and Emily Lauring, and Owen and Ellie Sue Markey. She also leaves behind many dearly loved nephews, her niece, cousins and other extended family.
Sue was born on July 4, 1949 in Miami, FL where she graduated from Carol City High School. In 1975 Sue and Bill moved their young family to Boston, MA where they went on to own multiple family restaurants: State Street Sandwich Shop, The Dugout and One McKinley Square. She later worked 20 years at Milton Hospital as an Administrative Assistant to the Nursing Office. Sue was a proud member of the Mayflower Society and Daughters of the American Revolution, and her life's work and joy was researching and celebrating her rich family history. Sue grew up surfing, modeling and with a love of horseback riding; cherishing summers at her aunt and uncle's California ranch. She was a talented baker, artist and seamstress, and an avid reader and book collector.
When describing Sue, the same word has been voiced consistently by many: sweet. Sue was the sweetest. She will be deeply missed by her loved ones and all those whose lives she touched. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts as a testament to her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.
The Murray family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful people and medical teams who have cared for Sue and provided support to Bill who lovingly cared for her over the last 8 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at give.michaeljfox.org.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the Visitation on Sunday, November 19, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM in the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 20, in St. Mary of the Nativity, 1 Kent Street in Scituate at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Scituate.
