Ruth is survived by her seven sons: John Clinton Murray and Trace Weldon of Harbeson, DE, Craig B. Murray and his wife Virginia of Marshfield; Dave C. Murray and his wife Margaret of Westford; Doug D. Murray of Wicklow, Ireland; Fred B. Murray and his wife Jayne of Marshfield; Steven B. Murray and his wife Georgia of Marshfield; and Jeffrey S. Murray and his wife and Sarah of Duxbury.
In addition, Ruth leaves fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was the cherished sister of Mary Blanchard Jensen of North Carolina.
Born and raised in East Orange, New Jersey, Ruth attended East Orange High School where she met the love of her life, Jack Murray. They lived in Germantown, PA until the outbreak of WW11, at which time Jack entered the Army Air Corp and Ruth moved back to East Orange. Following the war, they lived in Livingston and Glen Ridge, NJ, before moving to Marshfield in 1964, where they raised their family.
Ruth loved gardening and was an active member of the Seaside Garden Club and a long-time volunteer at the Clift Rodgers Free Library and Consignment Shop in Marshfield Hills.
Ruth worked at Gates Clothing Store in Scituate and at Talbots, in Hingham. In addition, she volunteered at the Home for Little Wanderers in Boston and as a volunteer with the Doric Dames in Boston, giving tours of the historic Massachusetts State House for visiting tourists.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA. Saturday October 21, 2017 between 2-4 PM. There will be a Memorial Service at 3:30 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
A private burial at Couch Cemetery, North Marshfield will take place at a later date.
