Born in Sanford, ME, on October 9, 1933 to Guy and Leonie Twyman, he lived in Scituate MA for 51 years. He is a Korean War veteran, and a 1959 graduate of Boston College. Roger worked for The US Office of Personnel Management (formerly the Civil Service Commission) for 27 years. He was initially recruited as part of the highly selective “Project 50,” an effort to add 50 young people nationwide to an aging work force, and by the end of his career was the Director of the New England Regional Training Center. After retirement from the government he went on to become a residential realtor at various companies on the South Shore.
In addition to being a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Roger was committed to social activism and volunteerism. He was an election observer for many years, traveling throughout the country to ensure voter rights were maintained for marginalized communities. After the invasion of Iraq, he was an active member of the weekly war protest on the Scituate Common. He delivered Meals-On-Wheels to the housebound for more than 15 years and was a volunteer radio host at The Talking Information Center, radio for the blind, in Marshfield for over 15 years. Roger was an avid reader and history buff and in his 70's began writing social commentary poetry and often would read at local poetry venues.
