Dr. Seidel was born in Scarsdale, NY, loving son of the late Alice K. and Albin R. Seidel. He graduated from Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, NY; earned an AB from The College of the Holy Cross in 1954; and a BS in Chemistry from Tufts University in 1955. He then served in U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. Following his time in the service, he worked towards a masters degree in bio chemistry until his acceptance into medical school.
He earned his Medical Degree (MD) from the New Jersey College of Medicine in 1963. Dr. Seidel then held an Internship at Boston City Hospital, Residencies at Boston City Hospital, Jersey City Medical Center and Newark City Hospital (Chief) from 1963 to 1967. He held a Fellowship of Infectious Disease from New England Medical Center from 1967 to 1968. In addition, he held academic positions at New Jersey College of Medicine, Tufts University and Boston City Hospital from 1966 to 1980. Dr. Seidel's hospital affiliations are at New England Medical Center, Boston City Hospital, Quincy City Hospital and most notably South Shore Hospital where he held many positions including Chairman of the Infection Control Committee, Medical Records Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutis Committee, Department of Medicine, Staff Sectary Treasurer, Vice President and President. He was a member of several organizations among them are the Massachusetts Medical Society and Infectious Disease Society. Dr. Seidel was awarded Physician of the Year Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan in 1998. Dr. Seidel began his practice of Internal Medicine in Scituate, MA in 1967 and cared for many members of the community as well as surrounding communities for 45 years. He was a dedicated physician who treated his patients with care, compassion and dignity.
During his life, Bob enjoyed the water tremendously and spent as much time boating and fishing as possible. He was self taught in the ways of the ocean and as a young man would navigate from New York to shores of Maine by boat. He was one of the youngest people to have ever held a Captain's license and chartered fishing parties during the summers. Bob shared this experience with his family and instilled the same passion and expertise within his son. He was proud of his country and honored those who served in the military. Bob was a dedicated husband, father and friend who lived his life by faith, family and the practice medicine

Brother of Elizabeth Messler her husband Vincent Messler, K. Jane Kresser and the late Herbert Kresser and Mary Seidel all of Brunswick, ME. Brother-in-law of Joseph and Patricia Muenzen of Hampton, NJ, the late Reverend Roland W. Muenzen and the late Ruth and Robert Ruff. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends and Family are invited to attend visiting hours at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate on Friday, September 28th from 4PM to 8PM. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, on Saturday, September 29th at 10AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate at 11AM. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Scituate.
