He was born July 17, 1930 in Boston, MA. Paul grew up in Dorchester and Quincy, MA. He was a graduate of North Quincy High School, class of 1949. Paul joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1951, and served his country for two years during the Korean War. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Gerard Crowley and Lillian (Dechene) Crowley, and his sister, Ruth Collins of South Weymouth.
Paul leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Joan (Doherty) Crowley of Scituate, MA. He is also survived by four children, Daniel Crowley and his wife Sharon of Bartlesville, OK, Peter Crowley and his wife Tara of Weymouth, MA, Janet Duprey of Scituate, MA, and Patricia Lopes and her husband Fabio of Orlando, FL, and ten grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Duprey, Aiden, Fabio, and Joshua Lopes, Matthew, Christian, Kendall, and Kyle Crowley, and Anna Crowley.
Some of Paul’s happiest years were during his retirement when he enjoyed playing tennis, bike riding, working on commercial lobster boats and volunteering at the Scituate town archives. During this time he also pursued his artistic side by hand painting Quarterboard signs. He sold his signs at various venues throughout the local area and became known as The Sign Guy.
Visitation will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate, MA with a memorial service immediately following at 3:00 pm.
