Patrick James Smith

Patrick James Smith – 79, of Scituate, formerly of Norwell, passed away on the evening of September 29, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine F. (Kelly) Smith, with whom he’d recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

Born in Boston and raised in Quincy, he was the son of the late Patrick Joseph and Mary (Willard) Smith. He was a 1961 graduate of North Quincy High School and went on to earn an Associate’s degree from Northeastern University.

He and Geraldine married on August 13, 1966 and raised their children in Norwell. He worked for many years as a sales executive for Kraft Foods and retired in 1998. His passion was doting on his grandchildren and spending much time traveling up and down the Maine coastline with Geraldine.

He was the devoted father of Patrick Smith and his wife Susan of Scituate, Sean Smith and his partner Danielle Fisher of Kingston and Keith Smith and his wife Deirdre of South Hadley. Cherished Papa and Grandpa to Timothy Smith, Catharine Smith, Kendra Smith, Emma Smith, Sydney Smith and Kasandra Centrella.

He was the loving brother of Daniel Smith of Quincy, Robert Smith and his wife Joanne of Reading, Deborah Mullen and her husband James of Wareham, Michael Smith and his wife Erin of Pembroke and the late Richard Smith and his surviving wife Donna Smith of Whitman, the late Kathy Smith and her husband Lee and the late Brian Smith. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass on Thursday, October 6 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment to take place at a later date.
