Nancy MacKay’s Nursery School taught generations of children from the 1950’s through the 1980’s and was widely known in and around Scituate, where she lived for nearly 70 years. In her mid-fifties she astonished friends and family by earning a pilot’s license and scored 100% on private pilot. She was a generous and lively contributor to her community.
Mrs. MacKay was the daughter of Charles and Edith Holcomb of Reading, MA and Westport, CT. She graduated from Reading High School, attended Cornell University and in 1972 completed her bachelor’s degree in child study at Tufts University.
Her husband, Kenneth B. MacKay died a year ago. She is survived by her three sons: James (Pam) of Beverly, Renny (Gail) of Scituate, and Peter (Diane) of Evergreen, CO. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Kristen, Charlotte, Andrew, Alexander and Lauren, and great grandchildren: Alexandra, Olivia and Emilee. She is survived as well by her sister, Mary Holcomb Haberman, of Bethal, ME and brother, Charles Reynolds Holcomb, of Huntington, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday December 27, 2018 from 4-8pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate.
