Mark Peters

Mark Szymczuk Peters - 57, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, former resident of Woonsocket and N. Smithfield, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2016 after an admirably courageous, 2-year long battle with cancer. Mark is survived by his beloved longtime partner, Emilio Petrillo.

Mark was born Feb. 11, 1959, the son of M. Helen (Hebert) Szymczuk of North Smithfield and the late Peter Szymczuk. Mark was a graduate of North Smithfield High School and went on to earn his Associates Degree at Johnson and Wales University in Providence. A man of several vocations during his life, he most recently worked in Milford, MA in Human Resources for over 20 years until his declining health prevented him from working any longer.

Mark was an interesting, creative and kind person.

He enjoyed music, driving his bright yellow pickup truck and being with his most cherished cat Toby. He had a great sense of humor, an infectious laugh and a knack for living simply and appreciating the important things in life. He was a thoughtful man, and was known for being a creative gift

giver.

Mark is an inspiration and a true fighter in every sense of the word: having never lost his faith through his countless treatments and surgeries.

Mark was the brother of Linda Rogers and her husband Paul, Paul Szymczuk and his wife Denise, Helen Ducharme and her husband Gary, Barbara Landi and her husband Ron, Ann Allard, Lisa Lopes and her late husband Steven, Peter Szymczuk, Edmond Szymczuk and Susan Harrop and her husband Rick. He is survived by countless nieces and nephews in both his family and Emilio's family who adored and admired him. He was a loving and kind friend to many.

A funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Church Street, Slatersville, RI 02876.

In Mark's honor today, Do something kind for someone you love. Don't take your health for granted and live life to the fullest every chance you get.
