Mark Adin Boles, age 53, passed on at his home in Scituate, Massachusetts on March 4, 2024. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa on May 17, 1970 to parents, Robert Boles and Marcia Young. Mark attended schools in New York City and graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1992. He had a career in marketing, advertising and consulting.
Most recently Mark realized his dream by launching Intrinsic Provisions, an outdoor lifestyle brand and retail store. The message in the marketing of his business was, “We believe in people. We believe in community. We believe in being fed by the outdoors. We believe in play.” And this is the way Mark lived his life.
Mark was a car guy and could identify the make and model of a car just by hearing the sound of the engine. He was happiest when outdoors, whether in the water, on the slopes or on his bike. He was passionate about preserving our natural resources and increasing access to the outdoors - especially for people of color.
Family was everything to Mark. His greatest joys came from his girls - his wife - Cary and his daughters - Ellie, Chase and Charley. Nothing made him happier than appreciating their loves and celebrating their triumphs.
Mark is survived by his mother, Marcia Young Cantarella, loving siblings - Maratea Cantarella (Barry Stelboum), Mick Cantarella (Kat Hellman) and many nieces and nephews. Mark is also survived by his former wife, Kate LaVigne.
A visitation will be held on Saturday March 9, 2024 from 10:30am - 11:30am followed by a celebration of life at 11:30am at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. All are welcome.
“Mark was one of a kind. He was good at working, he was good at loving, he was good at everything!” - Charley Boles, age 6
