Margaret Mary Mahoney

Age 74, of Scituate, passed away January 22, 2017 surrounded by her family. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Margaret was a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Sullivan of Watertown. She was the loving wife of over fifty years to Stephen Mahoney.

Beloved mother to Kathleen Schoemer and her husband Markus of Oxford, Maureen Pearce and her husband Glenn of Kenya, Stephen Mahoney and his wife Maura of Marshfield, and Paul Mahoney of Northampton. Cherished grandmother to Elizabeth, Hannah, Nora and Sebastian. Loving sister to Edward Sullivan and his wife Kathy of Timonium, MD, Alice Anderson and her late husband Ambrose of Lexington, Eleanor Donato and her husband Anthony of Watertown, Thomas Sullivan and his wife Geraldine of Watertown, and Marjorie Edson, sister-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her siblings Sister Eileen Sullivan, Fr. Robert Sullivan, Lt. Paul Sullivan and Stephen Sullivan.

Margaret was a long time preschool teacher at Beach Street School. She was a long time active member and lector at St. Mary of the Nativity Church in Scituate. Over the years she was involved in many volunteer activities but perhaps most notable was her long time commitment to The Pine Street Inn.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday January 26, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday January 27, 2017 at 10:00am from St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Pine Street Inn, 444 Harrison Avenue, Boston.
