Kathy was a graduate of the Scituate High School class of 1958 and spent most of her life living in Scituate on Brook Street. An athlete like her sister Mary, she was famously chosen for the varsity high school softball team while in 8th grade. After high school she attended Boston Comptometer School then later in life received her associate’s degree from Massasoit Community College. Early in her career Kathy worked at the A&P corporate office on Atlantic Ave in Boston as a bookkeeper. She headed out west and spent several years living in California before returning to the east coast via a road trip stopping to visit US historical sites along the way. Upon her return to Boston, Kathy worked at the Bingham Dana and Gould law firm, Sprague Industries and Venture Tape in various clerical positions before her retirement in 2011.
Kathy was an avid traveler and held expert level knowledge about US history and Boston sports teams, making her a popular teammate for all trivia sessions. Kathy used her love of history and sharp memory in her volunteer work at the Scituate Historical Society and sharing her knowledge of her beloved hometown. She loved the Boston Braves baseball team and in later years, was a fan of the Boston Celtics, Bruins and Patriots- but was notorious for turning off the tv and going to bed when games weren’t going her way. Kathy loved cats, in particular black cats and cared for many throughout her life, creatively naming most of them KC for “Kathy’s Cat.” She loved lighthouses and had many collectibles in her home, reminding her of Scituate and its beautiful seascapes.
