Jeff’s heart knew no boundaries. He loved fiercely, laughed loudly, and thought deeply. Jeff was kind and sweet and incredibly funny. Life was never dull when Jeff was around.
From his early years, Jeff developed a love of playing video games. He enjoyed playing all kinds of games, especially with friends from near and far. Jeffrey was also a lifelong musician, concentrating on trumpet and guitar. He loved all genres of music, from classical to punk rock. Jeff was a member of Team Trifecta Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Quincy, MA, and an avid Boston sports fan.
A true scholar and a lover of lively debate, after graduating from Scituate High School class of 2002, Jeff went on to pursue his passion for political science and history. He graduated summa cum laude from Quincy College with an Associate in Arts degree, majoring in government and history. He proceeded to the University of Massachusetts Boston where he acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, summa cum laude, and received the award of Distinction in Political Science. Jeff was happiest surrounded by friends and family discussing current events and political philosophy. He was known for thinking outside of the box, for examining an issue from every angle, and for remaining open minded to all opinions.
Jeffrey’s primary focus in life was helping other people, which he was lucky enough to be able to do every day at his job. Jeff was a Patient Advocate at Patriot Care Medical Cannabis Dispensary in Boston. He believed deeply in the healing effects of medical cannabis. He was proud to be involved in this cutting-edge industry. A good day for Jeff was one in which he was able to make a difference for his patients in need. Jeff felt very fortunate to consider his colleagues at Patriot Care among his treasured friends. It was there that Jeff met the love of his life, Rachel Livingston.
Through his compassion and generosity, Jeff truly did leave this world a better place than he found it. Jeff didn’t place much value on material possessions, but what he had he willingly shared with others. On his daily commute, Jeff would routinely bring food and money specifically for the vulnerable and often overlooked people that call the streets of Boston home.
Jeff’s greatest treasure in life was his family. He is survived by his parents, David and Paula J. Higgins of Scituate, MA; his sister Brett Marie and her husband Newiton Ribeiro of Norwell, MA; his aunts and Godmothers, Marie A. Murray of Scituate, MA, and Christine E. Long of Hingham, MA; and his uncle and Godfather Girard Higgins and Anne Meigs of St. Mary’s, GA.
