James W. Blanchard

Jim is a lifelong Scituate resident and graduate of Scituate High, 1964. He attended New Prep in Cambridge and Bridgewater State University. Jim was a self-employed roofing contractor for many years, and owner/inventor of the Tape Dolly. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, walks around the lighthouse with his dog, Bridey, and was actively involved with Scituate Soccer club, along with many other youth sports in Scituate. A devoted family man, he loved nothing more than to be surrounded by family and friends celebrating holiday traditions like sharing a cup of his famous Christmas Eve clam chowder.

Jim is the father of Julie Connor and her husband Mike of Scituate, Sarah Blanchard of Hingham, Jessica Maguire and her husband Stephen of Scituate, and Kathryn Chase and her husband Matthew of Scituate, brother of Mary E. Leary and Jane F. Heffernan both of Scituate, and the late Paul Blanchard, grandfather of Ryan, Thomas and Jillian Connor, Nolan, Emmitt, and Greta Maguire, and Phineus and Hadley Chase, also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate on Thursday, June 27th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate at 10AM. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4-8PM, burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Scituate.
