at Cardigan Nursing Home in Scituate, MA following a year of health challenges.
Born to the late Mabel and Calvin Officer on June 23, 1942, Gayle grew up in Baldwin, NY and
as a child enjoyed the beaches of Long Island with her older brother Brian and cousins. She
graduated from Baldwin High School in 1960 and later went on to attend Lycoming College in
PA where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology in 1964. After college she married
her high school sweetheart Thomas Kreimeier, who passed away in July 2021. They welcomed
two daughters into the world, Kirsten and Karen. Gayle enjoyed her family and her children very
much , actively participating in their lives as young girls. Later in life she attended Nassau
Community College and graduated with a degree in Computer Programming in the 1970’s. She
had a long and successful career as one of the first female programmers and computer analysts
at Beth Israel Hospital on Long Island and in Boston.
An adventurous traveler and photographer, she and her husband Richard Frederick traveled
throughout this country and abroad, taking many beautiful photos along the way.They spent
over 20 years living in Bend, OR before they relocated to South Hadley, MA following Gayle’s
Alzheimer’s Diagnosis.
Left to cherish Gayle’s memories are her husband, Richard Frederick of South Hadley, MA, her
daughters: Kirsten Balancia and husband Robert, their children Emma, Alexa and Catherine of
Southbury, CT, Karen Carriuolo and husband Adam, their children Avery and Griffin of Scituate,
MA. She is additionally survived by her stepdaughter, Christina Frederick Gasperi of St. Croix
and stepson, Mark Frederick of Madras, OR.
