Born in Boston, she is the daughter of the late James Vincent and Alice Veronica (Gallagher) Lavin. She is a graduate of Girls Latin School in Boston, Newton College of the Sacred Heart, and Simmons School of Social Work. She worked in counseling, in fundraising at Harvard University and Beaver Country Day School, then started her own business, the experiential education consultancy, Taking Off. Her passion was helping young people make positive choices and explore the world. She was engaged in many social justice causes throughout her life. Perhaps most importantly, Gail is known for her invention of the love bubble, which she sealed her kids (and others) into during bedtime and when someone was having a hard time.
She is the devoted mother of Emily Reardon and her husband Rob Molchon of Scituate and Brooklyn, NY and Johanna Prince and her husband Steve of Kingfield, ME. She is the wonderful grandmother “Gaga” to Amelia Emily Prince, Kai Alexander Reardon Molchon, Verity ‘Vdoodles’ Alice Reardon Molchon. She is the loving sister of Maureen Lavin-Arcand of Scituate and Jim Lavin of Virginia Beach, VA. She is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will take place at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Scituate Maritime Center located at 119 Edward Foster Rd, Scituate, MA. All are invited to join us in celebrating her life. Wearing purple is preferred.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the staff at Bridges Memory Care Home in Hingham and Seasons Music Hospice. These two teams have done the most meaningful work and are heroes in providing memory care and hospice. We are forever grateful for their love and support on this journey. Checks can be sent to Bridges by Epoch, with “Staff Appreciation-Reardon” in the memo line (1 Sgt. William B. Terry Drive Hingham, MA 02043).
