Ellie (89) passed peacefully at Mt Auburn hospital after a sudden cardiac aortic condition that left us with few options. She understood the end was near and she was comfortable throughout the process. Ellie was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1935, attended Melverne HS in NY, received a scholarship to Hofstra U in 54 where she met Thomas Richard (Dick) Sabin, the love of her life. They were married on July 4, 1954 until his passing in January 2000, she remarried longtime family friend H. Warren Harrington of Marshfield in Sept. of 2001. Warren passed in 2013 in Brooksville, FL where they had purchased a home in the Highpoint Community, after much RV travel.
Predeceased by parents Joseph F. Thompson and Ellen A. (Dempsey) Thompson, Son Thomas Richard Sabin Jr. 2021. Survived by son Paul Joseph Sabin of Plymouth, daughter Carol and Daughter-in-law Cheryl (DeSimone) Sabin of Somerville, Grandchildren, Gregory J Sabin, Meredyth L Sabin of Pembroke, great-grandchildren, Broden, Aila and Michael.
Ellie spent many hours touching lives and volunteering for organizations. Including the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, South Shore Natural Science Center (Norwell), Manomet Bird Observatory, South Shore Bird Club, Mt Hope Improvement Society, Wampanoag Paddlers Canoe Club, Audubon Society, Global Youth Justice Organization.
Visitation will be held at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 4-7pm.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Audubon Society, Mt. Hope Improvement or Manomet (Inc.) Observatory, Plymouth.
