Born in Brighton, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Edward and Marion (Holmes) Kay of Scituate MA and was a graduate of Scituate High School (1960) and Boston College (1972).
Father of Gregory Kay and his wife Paula (Stanley) of Medfield, MA, Jeffrey Kay and his wife Amy (Pendleton) of Greer, SC, Douglas Kay and his wife Amy (Klempa) of Medfield, MA and Sean Kay and his wife Kait (Norberg) of Medfield, MA.
Grandfather of Christopher, Colin, Moira, Morgan, Tyler, Eddie, Billy, Olivia, Piper, Eliza, Tessa and many nieces and nephews.
Ed is survived by his brother William Kay and his wife Pat of Naples, FL and sister Maryanne and the late James Ayers of Tucson, AZ; and his late sister Gertrude Leach and her husband Kenny of Delray, FL.
He took tremendous pleasure in traveling, in particular to Europe and Asia which he and Dorothy explored together. He enjoyed discovering new cultures, trying new cuisine and learning about the latest improvements in technology. In their later years, they enjoyed wintering in Naples, FL and spending time with family and friends.
Ed spent many years working in the technology sector with NCR, Digital Equipment Corporation and Motorola; cherishing the friendships he built over the years. He still met monthly for breakfast with his NCR friends whom he first met in 1962.
Ed most enjoyed helping those in need, doing home improvement projects, golfing with his friends and family, spending time with his grandkids, engaging in great political debates!
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 9:30-11:30 AM at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA. Reception and lunch to follow at Cohasset Golf Club, 175 Lamberts Lane, Cohasset, MA 02025. Relatives and friends are welcome to join!
