FIDDLER, Edward J. – Age 67 of Scituate, MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on June 26, 2024. He was the loving husband of Marie Diaz Fiddler for 33 years, and cherished father to Andrew J. and Matthew J., both of Scituate, MA. Son of the late Joseph N. and Mary E. (McMurrer) Fiddler of Portland, CT. Beloved brother to Michael (Karen) Fiddler of Middletown, CT and Lori (Simone) St. Amand of Rockfall, CT. He was a beloved uncle to Jennifer (Edwin) Lynds, Michael Fiddler Jr., Eric (Sarah) St. Amand, Meghan St. Amand, and Lukas and Anya Diaz.
Edward graduated Portland High School in 1976, before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Ed’s duty tour included performing as a percussionist in many parts of the world with the USMC Drum and Bugle Corps. Following his honorable discharge with the rank of Lance Corporal, and graduating from Middlesex Community College in 1981, Ed moved to Arlington, MA and began a career in cable television, where he met his future wife, Marie. Ed and Marie married in June of 1991 and had their first child Andrew in 1995 followed by Matthew in 1999. While becoming a father, Ed earned his B.A. in Business from Eastern Nazarene College. After his graduation, Ed began his career as a trainer and learning development specialist in human resources. Throughout the years, Ed engrained himself in the Scituate Community. Ed shared his love of baseball coaching multiple teams every year throughout the spring and summer and organizing the training of youth umpires for Scituate Little League. His passion for music and support of the Scituate Public Schools’ Music Program helped bring new experiences to countless students. Many will remember Ed marching alongside students in the annual Memorial Day Parade. Most recently, Ed loved to share his musical talents with those attending services at FTCC, but nothing meant more to him than traveling to Nashville, TN and Houston, TX to see his sons perform. The last few years of his life were spent traveling with his wife to Vermont, Cape Cod, Connecticut, Nashville, and Houston to spend time with the friends and family he held most dear. Those who knew Ed will treasure his kind smile, generosity and compassion for others.
