Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts to the late Donat and Marjorie (MacDonald) Roy.
He was a 1954 graduate of Scituate High School where he was class president and starred in all three sports of football, basketball, and baseball for all four years. His teams went on to play championship games at the Boston Garden in basketball and Fenway Park in baseball. He also played baseball in the Down East League until his career was shortened by injury. Don was an avid Boston sports fan.
He served his country for 4 years in the US Navy and went on to earn a college associate's degree. He worked as a counselor at the Astor Home for Children and was employed with other jobs up until his recent passing.
Although he never married, he had many nephews and nieces that he loved. Don was a kind-hearted and generous soul, who loved to make others laugh. He loved all animals and even fed and harbored cats in the neighborhood. One cat, in particular, visits daily, looking for his daily treats, and leaves with sadness due to Don's absence.
Donald is the loving brother of Paul Roy and his late wife Charlotte of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, Richard Roy and his wife Rachel of Clovis, New Mexico, and the late Mary Zollin and her late husband Roger and daughter Sandra Blanchard.
He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.
