Dennis was the beloved husband of 41 years to Carolyn (Martin) Baily of Scituate, MA. He was the cherished father of Adam Joseph and Angela Rose both of Scituate. Dennis was the son of the late Joseph and Meta Baily of Oxford, PA and the brother of Stewart Baily of San Diego, CA, Meta (Baily) Donahoe of Stone Harbor, NJ, Edwin Baily of Oxford, PA and the Scott Baily of Baton Rouge, LA. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews.
Dennis was born in West Chester, PA and graduated from Nottingham Academy in Nottingham, PA in 1966. He attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY graduating in 1970 with a B.S.degree. Dennis served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member of the distinguished National Honor Guard Society.
Upon discharge from the service, Dennis attended Mass College of Pharmacy in Boston. He worked as a pharmacist in Scituate for several years and later at South Shore Hospital where he drafted the first hospital formulary. In 1978, he entered the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine where he earned his D.O. degree. He interned at the Waterville Osteopathic Hospital in Waterville, ME. In 1983, he paid back his government loans in
No. Grosvenordale, CT in a busy family practice and served on the staff at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT.
In 1990, Dennis worked as a physician at Braintree Medical Associates until becoming employed at South Shore Medical Center in 1997. An urgent care physician, Dennis also practiced osteopathic manipulation and recently became certified in acupunture.
His professional affiliations included the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association and the Academy of Family Physicians. He was an avid pilot and a member of the South Shore Flying Club in Marshfield, MA. He was a member of the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club and Second Congregational Church where he loved to sing in the choir.
A Memorial Service was celebrated on Saturday, July 12th at 11 a.m. in Second Congregational Church, 43 Highland St, Cohasset. MA.
