Deborah F Myatt

Born in Wellsville, NY on June 29, 1950 to Jack B. Moore and Harriett A. Moore, Deborah was the eldest daughter of eight children. She was raised in East Aurora, NY, a hometown she often reminisced about fondly. She is predeceased by both of her parents, as well as her brother Gregory C. Moore, and her sister Barbara I. Moore.

Deb is survived by her children, Kelly M. (Myatt) Broderick and her husband Todd Broderick of Scituate, MA, and Nicole E. Myatt and her husband Ned Wellbery of Dorchester, MA. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Reid and Kira Broderick, and many loyal friends.

She moved to NYC in 1968 to study Fashion Merchandising at Fashion Institute of Technology, and enjoyed a successful retail career working for various companies in NYC and Boston. She had a passion for fashion and shopping until her final days; she made a sport of hunting down bargains and tracking sale prices.

Deb raised her two daughters in Weymouth, MA. As a single mom, she worked diligently to provide for her children and instill in them her values of hard work, loyalty, honesty, and integrity. Deb was a “get things done” person who persevered through life’s many challenges with grit, determination, and a sense of humor.

Deb lived for several years in Lancaster, PA before retiring to Scituate, MA in 2011 to live closer to the ocean with Kelly, Todd, and her cherished grandkids. She immediately set to work transforming a scrappy piece of land behind her new in-law apartment into a lush and colorful perennial garden buzzing with bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. She delighted in each bloom.

Another labor of love for Deb was knitting and quilting. From the time she was a teenager, she could spend hours knitting complex patterns, making it look effortless. Countless family, friends, and strangers have been warmed by Deb’s colorful hats, Irish-knit blankets, and beautiful quilts. During her cancer treatment she referred to knitting as her “chemo- therapy.” In a short period of time, she masterfully knit over 100 hats to donate to young patients at Boston Children’s Hospital. She delighted in the geometry of quilting patterns as well, pouring over endless fabric choices to create beautiful works of art bursting with color, texture, and warmth.

Deb reveled in the joy of being “Gram” to Reid and Kira, and was as devoted as they come. She cared for them at any opportunity, welcoming the chance to spend quality time with them reading, doing puzzles and Legos, or simply hanging out.

When diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in July 2018, Deb courageously faced her treatment head on, with positivity, grace, acceptance, and witty one-liners.

She will be forever loved, and greatly missed.

A visitation will be held on Friday May 24, 2019 from 10am-12pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. A memorial Service will follow at 12pm in the funeral home chapel.
