Catarina Lopes

LOPES, Catarina- Age 79, of Scituate, passed away at home surrounded by her family on February 16, 2024. Born in Cabo Verde, she was the daughter of the late Christiano and Maria Lopes. She will be greatly missed by her beloved spouse of 42 years Amadeu Fernades. Loving mother of Abel Lopes of Scituate, Lisa Lopes of Brockton, Christina Lopes of Scituate and Catarina, her husband Ismael Ramos of Dorchester. Beloved grandmother to Abel Jr, Jayden, Jayanna, Anthony, Ava, Adrian, Justin, Julissa. Cherished sister of Alfred, his wife Zita Lopes of Scituate, Delfino, his wife Maria Lopes of Scituate, , Delfina Lopes of Cape Verde, Theresa Lopes of Cape Verde, sister-in- law Regina Lopes and the late Francisco Lopes and Maria Vasquez. She is survived by many neices, nephew's, God children and so many others that she adopted along the way.

Catarina came from Cape Verde as a young single woman of 20 years old where she joined her parents and older siblings. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. She was selfless and the family matriarch who loved taking care of people and gardening. Her house was always open to those who she loved.

A visitation will take place on Thursday February 22, 2024 from 3pm-7pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate.
