Brian was born to Marlene (Lambert) O’Leary and Edwin Compton in June of 1955, and is leaving behind his beloved siblings Denise McKim of Belmont, NH, David Compton of Marshfield, MA, Philip Johnson of Bartlett, NH and Kris Johnson of Hingham, MA. He also leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Carolyn (Roche) Compton, and son Kyle, who was his pride and joy. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephew who all brought smiles to his face.
Brian served in the US Navy before pursuing a career as a chef, hitchhiking across the country to work at the Hyatt Regency in California. Later he returned to Massachusetts to work in several area restaurants before arriving at Kimball’s by the Sea, in Cohasset, MA, where he met and married his wife.
Brian and Carolyn shared many of life’s ups and downs together, but both agree that their greatest joy in life was their son Kyle. Brian passed on to Kyle an intense love for life, compassion for others, and an ability to find and spread humor whenever possible.
Brian loved the Patriots, the Red Sox, and baseball in general, and would spend many pleasurable hours discussing stats and stories with anyone who was interested. Finally, Brian loved the Beatles. In their immortal words: “In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make”. Brian inspired love everywhere he went. His final hope for everyone was to live life to the fullest.
Rest in peace dear husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. You will always be in the hearts of everyone you inspired with your strength, courage, laughter, and a life well lived.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 4-8 PM. at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., Scituate, MA, with a private family interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s memory may be made to The Red Sox Foundation-https://www.redsoxfoundation.org/donate/
