S. Joseph Heiser, 86, of Lebanon went home to his Lord on Saturday December 3, 2022. Born in Lebanon on January 16, 1936, he was the son of the late Stuart and Miriam Heiser. After graduating from Millersville University, he taught American History for the ELCO School District for 40 years. Joe is fondly remembered by his former students for his impactful stories in the classroom. During his time at ELCO, he coached basketball, tennis, soccer and field hockey. Joe’s love of basketball led him to play in the ELCO Rec League where he garnered many awards. Also, he received over 100 medals in shooting contests in the Pennsylvania Keystone Senior Games. He is survived by his wife Janet Shirk Heiser, daughters; Kelly Hines, Kori Landis and Kasey Tobias, sons-in-law; Toby Hines, Matthew Landis and Eric Tobias, cherished grandchildren; Brody Hines, Collin, Joey & Abigail Landis, and Gabriel, Olivia & Jillian Tobias. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Schaefferstown St. Paul’s UCC, where he served on the church council and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Paul’s UCC, Schaefferstown, on Sunday December 18, 2022 at 3:00pm. Visitation with the family will be one hour before the service.
