Ronald A Bender

Ronald A. Bender, 80, Schaefferstown, passed away on Sunday March 19, 2023 in his residence. He was the husband of Bonnie M. Rudy nee Lehman Bender with whom he would have celebrated a 59th wedding anniversary on June 14th. He was born in Lebanon on November 26, 1942 a son of the late John A. and Eva Long Bender. He was retired from Bayer Corporation with over 41 years of service. Ron was a life member of Immanuel U.M.Church in Cleona and was an active member who played on the church softball team and won championships in 1967 and 1997. He was a Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants fan who just enjoyed all sports and reading. His greatest enjoyment was in following the activities of his grandchildren. In addition to his wife he is survived by children: Susan wife of Fred Gonzalez; Andrew R. Bender and wife Christa; grandchildren: Abigail Bender, Mackenzie Gonzalez, Griffin Gonzalez and Ali Bender; sister: Linda Copenhaver. Funeral services will be Thursday at 4:00 pm in Immanuel U.M. Church, 29 E. Maple St., Cleona, Pa 17042 where a viewing will be held from 3:00pm until the time of service. Interment will be made in Grand View Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to his church or to Caring Hospice Service, 101 Good Drive, Unit 1, Lancaster, PA 17603.
