Lawrence (Butch) L. Miller, Sr, 80 of Myerstown, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 9, 2022. He was born on December 1, 1941 in Stouchsburg. He was the husband of Judith A. (Edwards) Miller to whom he was married for 59 years. He was the son of the late June R. (Kohl) Miller and Jim Miller.
Larry was a 1959 graduate of ELCO (Schaefferstown) High School and he attended West Chester State College where he played soccer and baseball.
He worked 5 years at RCA in Lancaster and 41 years at Charles C. Loose & Sons, Myerstown.
He played soccer for the Reading Amerks and Schaefferstown Soccer Club. He played basketball for K-Ville (YCMA Church League), RCA (Lancaster Industrial League), and ELCO Rec League. He played second base for the Richland Jets (Twilight League) and the Schaefferstown Barons (Lebanon Valley League).
He was a member of St. Paul's UCC Church in Millbach where he served as secretary of the church consistory for a number of years.
He was a wonderful husband, great dad and poppa. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved watching them play ice hockey, soccer, baseball, and football at ELCO and LVC. He loved watching the Phillies, Pirates, and Penn State football.
In addition to his wife, Judith, he is survived by children (daughter) Gwendolyn A. Wenger, wife of David Wenger, Myerstown and (son) Lawrence L. Miller Jr. husband of Tabby Miller, Conway, SC. His five grandchildren – Travis J. Miller (Sarah) FL, Seth L. Miller (Tabitha), Newmanstown, Brooke N. Miller (Cody), IL, Adam L. Wenger (Kirsten), Myerstown, and Kyle D. Wenger, Myerstown. Five great-grandchildren, Nolan, Myles, Adrianna, Casimer, Zeppelin, Chase, and Tenley. Sisters, Gloria Wolfe of Cornwall and Sylvia Beamesderfer of Linglestown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Creekside, 410 S Race Street, Myerstown from 6-8pm. Burial will be private at the family’s convenience.
