Raymond S. Schembri

Raymond S. Schembri, 94, of Eastchester NY, left this life on October 3, 2023. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. Ray grew up in Bath Beach, Brooklyn were it is said that he and his friends occasionally crashed a wedding at the Oriental Manor. He moved to Long Island and eventually settled in Westchester. Ray started programming mainframe computers from the beginning of the industry. Ray was a Vice President of Greenwich Savings Bank during the 70s and 80s and later at Knickerbocker Savings Bank. He completed his career at TIAA-CREF. Ray owned a sailboat for many years, he was an avid cyclist and even toured several European countries by bike. Ray also enjoyed watching the NY Giants. One of his greatest pleasures was partaking in the many gourmet meals his wife prepared and accompanying them with a glass of red wine. After several months of declining health Raymond passed at home with his caring wife of almost 40 years, Maryann, at his side. He will be dearly missed. Ray is also survived by his son Raymond, his Daughter-in-Law, Yolanda of Rutherford, NJ; granddaughter, Angela; nieces, a nephew and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Louis and Seraphina, and by his brother Joseph.

A visitation for Raymond will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes, 824 Scarsdale Ave, Scarsdale, NY 10583. A Funeral Mass will occur Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church-Scarsdale, 8 Carman Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583. A committal service will occur Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
